The Department of Education (DepEd) is exerting all efforts to free
the three remaining Zamboanga Sibugay teachers who are still being held
captive by rebels. The three teachers were abducted last March in the
southwestern part of Mindanao.
Last May, three teachers who were earlier kidnapped, also in the
same area last January were freed after more than four months in
captivity.
The remaining captive teachers were identified as Jocelyn Enriquez,
43; Jocelyn Inion, 39; and Noemi Mandi, 38, all teachers at
Bangkaw-Bangkaw Elementary School in Zamboanga, Sibugay.

have students who tested positive for Influenza A(H1N1), prompting the
city health office to advise them to suspend classes.

MANILA, Philippines -- Five high school students in Laguna province
have been infected with the Influenza A(H1N1) virus, the Department of
Education (DepEd) announced today.
According to the DepEd, the five A(H1N1)-infected students were from the San Pablo National High School in San Pablo, Laguna.
Because of this, DepEd Assistant Secretary Thelma Santos said the
soap-making training supposed to be held in the school was cancelled.
The school already has 187 A(H1N1) cases, prompting school administrators to suspend classes until July 20.

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/15 July) Teachers from public and private schools coming from different religions in Cotabato City this morning gathered for a march-rally around the citys main streets and plaza, demanding, among others, justice for all and spare the children from violence.
